Fire Engulfs Home Over The Weekend, Total Loss


Elkton – On Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:23 am, crews from Singerly, Newark, Chesapeake City and North East, along with Tanker Task Force units from Rising Sun, Oxford, Port Deposit and Perryville responded to the unit block of Stratton Circle for reports of a home one fire.

Arriving crews found fire coming from the home. The occupants of the home woke up to the smoke alarms sounding allowing all to safely escape. Deputy State Fire Marshals credit working smoke alarms with preventing injuries or death.

It took approximately 90 minutes and 50 firefighters to bring the two alarm blaze under control. Maryland State Fire Marshals estimated the total loss at $350,000.
