Happening Now: Rescue Crews Searching for Body in Christiana River

Wilmington – This morning at 11:18 Wilmington Firefighters on the B platoon were dispatched to a water rescue in the area of the Winchester Bridge, 900 E.4th Street, according to Micheal Donohue.

Officials used video surveillance to confirm an unknown person had jumped from the bridge, according to reports from the scene.

WFD Marine unit, Fireboat 7 went underway initiating search operations immediately after dispatch, said Donohue

Battalion Chief John Hoban requested Dive teams from New Castle County and Delaware State Police. At the present time multiple agencies are actively performing a recovery mission.

Reports from the scene indicate that side scan sonar systems and a drone have been deployed in an attempt to locate the body.
