Woman Killed In Newark After Slamming Into A Tree

File

Newark – New Castle County Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the area of Frazier Road, near the Delaware/Maryland State Line, according to M/Cpl. Michel Eckerd.

Eckerd said that on Wednesday at about 6:30 p.m., County Police were called to the unit block of Frazier Road for a report of a single motor vehicle crash. When they arrived officers found a vehicle that had driven off of the roadway and struck multiple trees. The vehicle, an Infinity J30,was occupied by a 47-year-old female driver.

Shortly after a arrival, a medic from Trooper 4 (Delaware State Police Aviation), who had been called to the scene for transport,  determined that the patient could not be saved.

Traffic Services Unit Detectives came out to the scene and assumed the investigation. It has been determined that alcohol and speed were a factor in this accident. The preliminary investigation also revealed that the driver was not wearing her seat belt.

This is an active and ongoing investigation; further information will be released as it becomes available.
