Fiery Crash Shuts Down Route 13 In New Castle


New Castle – Just after 6:30 this morning rescue crews from the Good Will Fire Company, along with the Wilmington Manor, Christiana and other surrounding fire companies responded to Route 13 SB, near the  Hares Corner Wawa, for reports of a serious crash involving two vehicles on fire.

Responding crews found two cars fully involved and quickly worked to knock the fire down. As fire crews worked the fire medics and ambulance crews treated at least two patients.

Reports from the scene indicate that the two patients were transported with undetermined injuries. Images from DelDOT traffic camera’s show two small cars that have both been destroyed by fire.

DelDOT, County and State Police have Route 13 shutdown at Route 273 as crews work to clear the roadway.

Update: Road opened at 8:20 am, all lanes moving fine.
