Morning Crash Shuts Down Route 4, Sends One To Hospital

Newark – Just after 6:30 this morning , November 22, 2017, rescue crews from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, along with Troopers from the Delaware State Police responded to the intersection of E Chestnut Hill Road and Martindale Drive for reports of an accident involving injuries.

Arriving crews found two vehicles with heavy damage and one patient in need of treatment.  Atena Fire Police were called to the scene to close all eastbound lanes of E Chestnut Hill Road while crews worked to treat the patient.

Traffic was diverted into a nearby shopping center during the road closure. One patient was transported by ambulance crews from Aetna’s Station 9, with undetermined injuries.

All lanes are now reopened.
