New Castle House Fire Sends Two To Hospital

New Castle – Just before 11:00, Sunday morning, New Castle County Paramedics and personnel from the; Good Will, Holloway Terrace, Minquadale, Wilmington Manor, Christiana, Cranston Heights, Claymont, Five Points and Port Penn Fire Companies were dispatched to the unit block of Gene Avenue in Castle Hills, for a house fire, according to Paramedic Senior Corporal David J. McKinney, Jr.

McKinney said upon the arrival of County Paramedics, fire department personnel were working to control a house fire at the dispatched location. Two patients were evaluated and transported from the fire scene. A 66-year-old female was evaluated and transported for smoke inhalation with New Castle County Paramedics accompanying.

A 55-year-old male was evaluated and transported, although he had no complaint. Both patients were transported to the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital on board ambulance from the Five Points and Wilmington Manor Fire Companies and were stable at the time of transport. There were no fire fighters injuries reported at the scene, said McKinney/

The Office of the State Fire Marshall was on scene and is investigating the fire.
