Newark – Newark Police Department is investigating a shoplifting that occurred at Home Depot, 1000 Suburban Drive, on 11/25/17 at approximately 8:00 p.m., according to Lt. Fred Nelson.

Nelson said an employee reported that the suspect fled the store with a vacuum cleaner and eight bottles of laundry detergent, with a total value of $444.00, and loaded the items into a pickup truck with wooden boards on the bed of the truck, according to police.

Responding officers located the pickup on Suburban Drive and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, the vehicle refused to stop, said Nelson. The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on Christina Parkway. The suspect was described as a black male with a green jacket and a black knit hat.

There is no surveillance footage available from Home Depot at this time. A still image of the suspect vehicle from an officer’s dash camera video is attached.
