Police Update: Newark Police Surround Home With Rifles Drawn

Newark – Just after 3:00 pm today, Saturday, November 18, 2017, Newark Police officers responded to the 900 block of Rahway Drive for a reported domestic dispute, according to Lt. Fred Nelson.

Nelson indicated that the initial report was that eight people were fighting at the residence, one of which was in possession of a firearm.

Upon arrival officers made contact with an elderly female and her adult daughter and determined they were the only people at the residence, said Nelson.

Further investigation revealed that the caller was suffering from a medical condition and that there was no emergency at the residence, according to Nelson.

Newark – Just after 3:00 pm today Newark Police responded to the 900 block of Rahway Drive. It’s not immediately clear why the police have responded the location, but officers were observed near the home with long guns drawn. Officers have escorted two elderly woman from the home.

Update: At around 3:20 pm officers entered the home looking for someone but did not find anyone in the home.

The scene seems to be under control with officers looking more relaxed.
