Seven Vehicles Broken Into Near UD Campus In Newark

Newark – Newark Police Department is investigating several vehicle break-ins and thefts that occurred in the parking lots of Homewood Suites, 640 S. College Avenue, and Baymont Inn, 630 S. College Avenue on 10/29/17 between 1:00 – 7:00a.m, according to Lt. Fred Nelson.

Nelson said seven victims that were parked in the Homewood Suites parking lot reported that their vehicle windows were broken out and their vehicles were rifled through.

One of the seven victims reported that her purse and its contents, valued at $500, were stolen and another victim also reported a purse and its contents, valued at $50, were stolen. There was one victim whose car was entered while it was parked in the Baymont Inn parking lot. He reported one of his vehicle windows had been smashed out and a bag was stolen, however, the bag was recovered on the property.

Officers reviewed surveillance camera footage from the area and determined one of the suspects is a white male with facial hair wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and brown work boots. This subject was observed on surveillance video at approximately 2:00a.m.
