Wilmington – Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man for his role in an armed robbery, that took place during a drug deal, which occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in the parking lot of the Concord Mall located at 4737 Concord Pike, Wilmington, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.
Austin said the investigation has determined that while inside the Concord Mall, a 22-year-old New Castle man, agreed to purchase marijuana from a subject later identified as Riquan Mack, 18, of Wilmington. Both subjects then went to the rear parking lot of the mall to complete the transaction, according to Austin. Once outside Mack demanded money from the victim while lifting his shirt, which revealed a black handgun tucked in his waistband, said Austin. The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of money to Mack who then fled on foot. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.
Through various investigative leads and measures, Troopers were able to positively identify Mack as the subject involved in the robbery, said Austin. On Thursday, November 16, 2017, Troopers located Mack in a vehicle parked in the lot of Brandywine High School, at which time he was taken into custody without incident.
Mack was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2, where he was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree. He was then arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court #2, and released on $20,000.00 unsecured bond.
