Newark Man Awakes To Find Burglar In His Home

File

Newark – Newark Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 between 2:00 and 2:20 a.m. in the 100 block of Madison Drive, according to Lt. Fred Nelson.

Nelson said the victim, a 37-year-old male resident, reported that an unknown suspect entered his residence while he was asleep and removed an undisclosed amount of money. Another resident reported hearing what was believed to be the suspect moving around the residence during the time of the burglary.

He stated that he went to check on the noise and observed a black female with a beanie on her head wearing a beige hooded jacket and pajama pants running down the stairs, said Nelson. The witness resident then woke up the victim and advised him on what he had observed.

The victim subsequently located an unlocked basement door, which is believed to be the point of entry/exit. Officers, including a New Castle County K9, checked the area for the suspect, however, they were unable to locate anyone.
