Newark – On 12/13/2017 Newark Police Department arrested Alex Evans for the 12/11/2017 robbery of a 69-year-old male at a residence in the 300 block of Paper Mill Road, according to Lt. Fred Nelson.
Nelson said Detectives identified Evans as a person of interest after several patrol officers reported that he matched the general suspect description and he was recently contacted in the area where the robbery occurred.
Detectives also learned that Evans sold an item of jewelry at a local store, which was identified as having been stolen from the victim, according to Nelson. Additionally detectives reviewed video surveillance of the jewelry sales transaction and found that Evans was wearing clothing that matched the suspect description.
On 12/13/2017 detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Evans for the robbery. Evans was subsequently arrested on the outstanding warrant on 12/13/2017 at 7:00a.m. by New Castle County Police after receiving a report of a suspicious person in the unit block of Donaldson Drive, Newark.
Evans is currently being held pending arraignment.

Newark – The Newark Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on Monday, December 11, 2017 at approximately 3:30 p.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Paper Mill Road, according to Lt. Fred Nelson.
Nelson said the victim, a 69-year-old male, reported that he was first contacted at his front door by the suspect, who asked for a drink and food. The victim provided the suspect with a drink and the suspect initially left without incident.
The suspect then returned 5 to 10 minutes later and pushed past the victim at the front door, causing him to fall, said Nelson. The suspect then proceeded to go through the victim’s residence, taking cash and other assorted items, according to Nelson. The suspect eventually left through the victim’s rear door in an unknown direction. The victim received a minor injury to his right leg as a result of his fall, however, he refused medical treatment.
The suspect is described as a white male, 6’00’’ – 6’01’’ tall, thin build, scruffy build, disheveled hair, wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, dark sweatpants, and shoes that were partially green.
