Police: Hungry Man Robs Victim Near Newark Reservoir

File

Newark – The Newark Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on Monday, December 11, 2017 at approximately 3:30 p.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Paper Mill Road, according to Lt. Fred Nelson.

Nelson said the victim, a 69-year-old male, reported that he was first contacted at his front door by the suspect, who asked for a drink and food. The victim provided the suspect with a drink and the suspect initially left without incident.

The suspect then returned 5 to 10 minutes later and pushed past the victim at the front door, causing him to fall, said Nelson. The suspect then proceeded to go through the victim’s residence, taking cash and other assorted items, according to Nelson. The suspect eventually left through the victim’s rear door in an unknown direction. The victim received a minor injury to his right leg as a result of his fall, however, he refused medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6’00’’ – 6’01’’ tall, thin build, scruffy build, disheveled hair, wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, dark sweatpants, and shoes that were partially green.
