Police: Woman Stabbed To Death, Blood Trail Leads Police To Suspect

Wilmington – On Saturday, 20 January 2018, at approximately 3:04 pm, Wilmington Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 1600 block W. 4th Street for reports of a possible homicide, according to authorities.

Officials said when officers arrived they found a female in a second-floor bedroom, who was deceased. It appeared the female victim sustained multiple stab wounds.

New Castle County Paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced Annette Henery, 58, of Wilmington deceased.

During the investigation, officers located what appeared to be a blood trail. While following the blood trail, evidence of the crime was discovered and collected, according to officials.

The blood trail appeared to end at a vacant home in the 200 block of N. Dupont Street. Wilmington Police Crisis Management Tactical Team made entry into the home and located Kevin J. Dyton, 52, inside, attempting to escape capture, according to police.

 

Officials said that both the victim and the defendant lived at the location where Henery’s body was found. The two were boyfriend and girlfriend, according to police.

Dyton has been charged Murder 1st Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During The Commission of a Felony. He was later transferred to the Howard Young Correctional Facility after failing to post $250,000 bond.
