Newark – On February 18, 2018, the Newark Police responded to Hamlet Way, Newark, for a report of a large fight. Arriving officers found that the fight had already broken up and that three victims had been transported by personal vehicle to a local hospital for treatment, according to Newark Police Department spokesman, Lt. Andrew Rubin.
Rubin said an investigation into the incident revealed that an uninvited group arrived at the home. The group, estimated at seven to fourteen people males, was in the home during the party trying to pick fights with other party goers, according to Rubin.
Invited guest attempted to remove the unwanted subjects from the residence and a fight ensued. As a result of fight a 20-year-old man was injured. Rubin said the suspects returned and attacked this victim again, knocking him to the ground. He was then assaulted by six to seven people, according to Rubin.
As the incident was occurring additional fights broke out, with one suspect arming himself with a glass bottle. That suspect allegedly struck at least four party goers with the bottle, according to Rubin.
The suspects, described as mostly black males, along with one or two white males, fled in a Chrysler sedan and a unknown SUV. A total of four victims sustained injury, consisting of various lacerations, said Rubin.
The suspect with the bottle was described as a white male wearing a gray sweatshirt.
