Wilmington – Republican Candidate Gene Truono is pleased to publicly announce that he is running for the U.S. Senate. In November 2017, Gene Truono officially filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.
“After months of due diligence, meeting with elected officials and leaders in the Republican party, I have made the decision to run for U.S. Senate. I am humbled at the encouragement and support I have received as I travel up and down the state. Delawareans are telling me that it is time to return conservative principles to Washington D.C.”.
Gene was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from Salesianum High School, he attended University of Delaware and Delaware Law School of Widener University. Gene has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as Chief Compliance Officer at PayPal. Throughout his career, he has given back to our community by serving on numerous non-profit boards, primarily focused on low income housing initiatives and economic development.
Mr. Truono made his public announcement at Popdot Signs and Graphics located in the City of Wilmington on the west side. “I am committed to the community not just through words but by actions. By using Popdot for my printing needs, I am able to support their mission of empowering disadvantaged youth in their chosen career path. The products and the service that my campaign and I have received are top notch.” Campaign manager Steve McGuire challenges all elected officials and other candidates running for office to use Popdot as well. “Why would you cross state lines to use a print shop just to get a label when we have this great small business right in our back yard? Our City wins, our State wins, but most of all our kids win.”
Paul Calistro, Executive Director of West End Neighborhood House, said “We really appreciate your making a commitment to utilize small business and small businesses with a social purpose. Without the young people, the signs wouldn’t happen – and without young people, the world wouldn’t change”. Gene is committed to using local small businesses for his campaign when possible. “Big government programs don’t work, but the programs like this do, and the opportunity to work with the community and create jobs – small business create two-thirds of jobs in the country – that’s why we are supporting Popdot.
