Newark –  A Seattle-based investment firm is eyeing the former Newark Charter School location, on Barksdale Road, for their new project. Columbia Pacific Advisors is seeking to build a 100,000-square-foot building that will house a total of 139 beds once complete.

To move forward the city would have to rezone the property, located next to Handloff Park, from BL (Business Limited ) to AC (Adult Community), a topic that will be discussed at an informal meeting set for 6 p.m.  on Thursday, March 1.

The meeting will be held at City Hall, located at 220 S. Main Street.

The proposed assisted living facility would be named the Newark Senior Living.
