Fire Causes $400,000 In Damages To Maryland Home

Queenstown, Md. – Just after 10:30 yesterday morning the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Wye Narrows Drivefor reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a 2 Story, Wood Framed, Single Family Dwelling with fire showing. Approximately 25 firefighters brought the one alarm under control after about an hour, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Officials said the fire was discovered by an employee at University of Maryland’s Wye Research and Education Center employee. The campus sets just across the water from the home.

The Fire Marshal estimated the the loss to the structure at $400,000.00 and the contents of the home at $2,000.00.

Officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
