Multiple Injury Accidents Close Route 1, Summit Bridge


Heavy snow and wet roads have caused havoc on the roadways this morning.

Multiple accidents have been reported throughout New Castle County this morning. The accidents have kept Middletown rescue crews and County Paramedics busy for much of the morning commute.

The first crash we came upon was on the Summit Bridge A white BMW slammed into the wall, causing the fire department to close the road.

Another accident near the bridge left pieces of gray Dodge Charger strewn across the roadway after it slammed into a jersey barrier.

Three separate crashes occurred on Route 1, below the C&D Canal. The most recent occurring on Route 1 near Route 299. That accident involved several vehicles, causing rescue crews to closed Route 1 NB, near the Route 299 overpass. The two other crashes occurred on Rt. 1 near Middletown.

Additional accidents occurred on I-95 and in the Pike Creek-Area.

Injuries have been reported in these accidents and others.
