Officials Update This Morning’s House Fire In Elsmere That Sent One To Hospital

At approximately 10:00 this moring New Castle County Paramedics, Elsmere, Cranston Heights, Mill Creek, Wilmington Manor, Talleyville, Minquas and Hockessin Fire Companies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Spruce Avenue in Elsmere for a residential structure fire, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne Russell.

Russell said upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found 2 patients. The first patient, 23-year-old male, suffered smoke inhalation injuries. The patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Wilmington Manor Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. The patient was in stable condition at the time of transport.

The second patient, 34-year-old female, suffered from an asthma attack. That patient was treated on scene and declined transport. The third patient, 38 year old male, suffered from smoke inhalation injuries. The patient was treated on scene and declined transport.

State Fire Marshal Office is investigating the fire.

Elsmere – Just after 10:00 this morning firefighters from the Elsmere Fire Company, along with crews from the surrounding area and New Castle County Paramedics responded to the 1000 block of Spruce Avenue for reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, crews reported smoke showing from the residents and began a search of the home.  Early reports from the scene indicate that one patient was transported in to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Crews quickly brought the fire, believed to be a mattress fire, under control.
