Restaurant Heavily Damaged By Fire, Second Time Fire Marshals Have Been At This Strip Mall In Less Than A Week

Wilmington – The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating this morning’s fire at a Wilmington, Delaware shopping center, Assistant State Fire Marshal, Michael Chionchio.

The blaze, reported shortly before 5:00 am, occurred at the San Marcos restaurant in the Alpha Shopping Center, near Greenbank Road.  The Mill Creek Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames coming from the roof of the building.

State fire investigators were called to the scene to investigated the origin and cause of this fire. The origin and cause has not been determined at this time and is pending further investigation.

Fire damage was estimated at $30,000. There were no reported injuries.

Authorities were already investigating an incident that occurred at the Alpha Shopping Center last Tuesday. In that incident Troopers found two vehicles that were damaged by suspects who threw an incendiary device at the vehicles, according to the Fire Marshal’s office.

Officials have not publicly tied the two incidents together.
