Newark – Just after 9:00 this morning Police Officers with the Newark Police Department responded to Planned Parenthood, located at 140 East Delaware Avenue, near the University of Delaware campus, for reports of a suspicious package..
Arriving officers blocked off Delaware Avenue at Academy to pedestrian and vehicle traffic and call for the State Police EOD Unit (Bomb Squad)
Upon arrival the State Bomb Squad ordered the evacuation of a perimeter of 300 feet around the building.
At 12:15 p.m. Newark police issued the following statement:
The suspicious package has been cleared by the Delaware State Police EOD Unit. The package was determined to have been addressed to an employee at that location, and it contained a file with papers in it.
The roadway will be opened shortly to normal traffic flow.
