Cape May-Lewes Ferry Special Day Trip Excursion To The Zoo – Saturday, April 21

Cape May, NJ, – Lions, tigers, and bears – oh my! Cape May – Lewes Ferry (CMLF) officials announced a special day trip excursion package to the Cape May County Park and Zoo will be available on Saturday, April 21, 2018 to coincide with Earth Day activities at this popular county attraction. The package includes round trip foot passenger passage, motor coach transportation to and from the Cape May County Park and admission to the Zoo. The package cost is $29 for adults, $18 for children ages 6-13 and $9 for children under 6 years of age.

“With more than 250 species of mammals, birds, and reptiles, the Cape May County Park and Zoo is a treasure that has something for everyone,” said Rhona Bronson, Director of Marketing for the Ferry. “Visitors will be amazed with what the Zoo has, especially if it is a first trip. The Zoo is one of the most popular attractions in Cape May County and a great way to connect with nature on Earth Day!”

Boarding 8:45 a.m. departure from the Lewes Terminal, customers will arrive at the Cape May County Park and Zoo around 11:00 a.m. The motor coach will depart the Zoo at 3:15 p.m. in order to return to Lewes, Delaware aboard the 4:30 p.m. vessel departure. The Cape May County Park and Zoo has food available for purchase and patrons may also bring their own lunch. Picnic tables are located near the entrance.

Children have the chance to meet Lex, the African Lion; Tysa, the Snow Leopard; Gracie, the Zebra; Mork, the River Otter; and hundreds of their friends. Trip participants can stroll the paths that wind through the wonders of nature. Children can also get a little exercise on the Park’s playground and boardwalks.

The Cape May County Park and Zoo is accredited by the American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums, placing it on a level with the finest zoos in the world. The Zoo, located 15 miles north of the Cape May Ferry Terminal, registered more than half a million visitors last year. The zoo was voted the 13th best zoo in the world and the 5th best zoo in the United States in TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice 2015. TripAdvisor also named the zoo the 3rd best in the nation in 2012.

As part of the Earth Day celebration, the Ferry is adding to its series of collector marine life “baseball cards.” In 2016, the first featured an Osprey to celebrate the return of the mating Osprey pair at the Lewes Terminal. In 2018, the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin will join the Osprey and the Northern Gannet in the collector series.

Started in 1970, Earth Day continues to focus public attention on the unique environmental challenges of our time. Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which events, activities and actions take place worldwide that demonstrate support for environmental protection and good stewardship of our planet.
