File

Dover – The Dover Police Department is investigating a carjacking of a taxi driver that occurred early Sunday morning, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said at approximately 4:25 AM, a 50-year-old male taxi driver, picked up two suspects in the area of River Road, just south of Kent County Family Court. The taxi proceeded onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and then onto DuPont Highway.

The driver pulled into the parking lot of Royal Farms and one of the suspects ordered the driver out of the vehicle while possibly armed, said Hoffman. The other suspect got into the driver’s seat and both suspects fled in the vehicle, westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, said Hoffman.

The suspects were both described as being black males, approximately 6’2″ with one being heavy-set and the other having an average build.
