Newark – On Thursday April 19, 2018 at approximately 4:45 p.m. the Newark Police responded to the 200 block of Peach Road for a report that a subject pointed a handgun at several people during an argument, according to Sgt. Gerald Bryda.
Bryda said officers learned that a 20-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were inside a residence on Peach Road arguing with two other acquaintances over a debt.

During the argument, a male unknown to the two victims, emerged from a bedroom. The unknown male allegedly pointed a handgun at the two and threatened to shoot them if they did not leave the residence, according to Bryda. Both fled the residence and called 911. Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence and located the described handgun.
Charles R. Dunagan, a 33-year-old male from Bear, DE, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Menacing, 2 counts of Terroristic Threatening and 1 count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court #11 and transported to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute in lieu of $23,000 cash bail.

Breaking Report
Newark – Just after 4:45 this afternoon Newark Police Officers surrounded a home near West Park Elementary. Officers were observed across the street (W. Park Place) from the school with their service weapons drawn.
Police have yet to release details surrounding the incident. Early reports indicate that a firearm may have involved in the incident.
Officers are questioning several people in the area. One person has been taken into custody.
