Trash Truck Loses Load, Two Other Crashes Slowing Capitol Trail Commute

Newark – Just after 3:00 this afternoon the Delaware State Police responded to eastbound Capitol Trail at Melrose Place Drive  for reports of a automobile crash. Upon arrival,  Troopers found a personal property accident with no injuries blocking one lane of travel.

While working the accident, Troopers noticed that a trash truck hauling a large dumpster had lost its load, spilling trash across the the eastbound lanes of Capitol Trail between Melrose Place Drive and Red Mill Road. Crews are working to remove the trash from the roadway. Traffic is restricted to one lane.

At 3:55 pm crews from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder responded to Capitol Trail at Brewster Drive for reports of an injury accident. One patient from that accident was transported to Christiana Hospital with undetermined injuries.
