Wilmington Police Charge Teen With July 2017 Murder

Wilmington – On Thursday, 12 April 2018, Wilmington Police arrested a 17-year-old Wilmington teen for the shooting death of 23-year-old David Bailey.

On Friday, 28 July 2017, at approximately 1:22 pm, Wilmington Police were summoned to the 700 block of S. Van Buren Street to a 911 call for ‘shots fired’.

Upon the officer’s arrival, they located Bailey in the block suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was unconscious and unresponsive. Life-saving measures were rendered; however, Bailey succumbed to his injuries at approximately 2:00 pm.

The teen has been charged with Murder First Degree, Possession Of A Deadly Weapon During The Commission Of A Felony and Possession of A Firearm By A Person Prohibited.

He was transferred to Howard Young Correctional Institute after failing to post a $1,000,000 bond.
