Newark Police Release Details, Suspect Photos From Sunday’s Bank Robbery

Newark – On Sunday May 27, 2018, at about 1330 hours, Newark Police responded to the TD Bank, located at 230 East Delaware Avenue, for a report of a robbery, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said arriving officers determined that the suspect entered the bank and approached a female teller. He displayed what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband and presented a note demanding money. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the subject fled on foot on East Delaware Avenue towards Haines Street.

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard and wearing a tan jacket and sunglasses. Photos are attached.

A track conducted by a University of Delaware Police Department K-9 was unsuccessful.

No one was injured in this incident.

Newark – At approximately 1:30 this afternoon Newark Police Officers, along University of Delaware Police Officers, responded to the TD Bank, located at 230 E Delaware Avenue, for reports of robbery.

Officers have blocked access to the bank while investigators and evidence technicians processes the crime scene. Additional officers outside of the bank are using a police K-9 officer to search the surrounding area.

Early reports indicate that a handgun was brandished during the robbery.

While most banks are closed on Sunday’s, this TD Bank location is open from 11:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sundays, according to their banks website.
