Authorities Update Motorcycle Crash On Old Baltimore Pike In Newark

This morning, at approximately 7:20 New Castle County Paramedics and personnel from the Christiana Fire Company and Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company were dispatched to the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Albe Drive, for a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle, according to Paramedic Senior Corporal David J. McKinney, Jr.

McKinney said arriving County Paramedics found the patient in the care of Emergency Medical Technicians from the Christiana Fire Company. The patient and sole occupant of the motorcycle was a 54 year old. He was struck while riding his motorcycle and separated from the bike during the crash. He was wearing a helmet at the time of impact. The patient was treated on scene for chest, facial and hip injuries, along with body wide road rash.

He was transported to the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital on board an ambulance from the Christiana Fire Company. The patient was stable at the time of transport. There were no other patients transported from the scene.

Delaware State Troopers were on scene and are investigating the crash.

Newark – Rescue crews from the Christiana Fire Company, along with crews from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder, New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police are responding to the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Albe Drive for reports a multi-vehicle crash in evolving a motorcycle.

Upon arrival, crews are asking for Fire Police to respond to the scene to assist with traffic.

No word on injuries at this time.
