Long Fall From Roof Sends Newark Woman To Trauma Center By Air

Just after 3:00 this afternoon rescue crews from Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder, along with Newark Police Officers responded to a home the unit block of Cornwall Drive for reports of a long fall.

Upon arrival, crews found a woman, believed to be in her twenties, suffering from injuries sustained when she fell off the roof of the home. Early indications are that she sustained serious injuries to her extremities after an approximate 14 foot fall. As a result, rescue crews utilized Trooper 4 (Delaware State Police Aviation).

Trooper 4 landed nearby at West Park Elementary while crews worked to ready the patient. Newark Police Officers cleared local residents from the area to allow the helicopter to land.

Once Trooper 4 was on the ground, fighters and medics transported the woman to the helicopter, she was then transported to Christina Hospital with a trauma alert.
