On Friday, Jun 1, 2018, the Milford Police Department arrested a Georgetown man following an investigation into an unlawful sexual contact that allegedly occurred on a DART Para Transit Bus, according to Sgt. Robert Masten.

Masten said on March 12, 2018, detectives began the investigation after learning of a possible unlawful sexual contact that occurred in February on a DART Para Transit Bus.

As a result of the investigation a warrant was obtained for Joseph D. Spruill, 57, of Georgetown.

Masten said while the bus was in a parking lot near a stop in the 900 block of North DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113) it’s been alleged Spruill, who was the operator of the bus, forced one of the two victims to touch him inappropriately.

It’s also been alleged he attempted to force a second victim to touch him, but that victim was able to pull away, according to Masten. Investigation also revealed Spruill reportedly made comments that the victims found offensive, added Masten.

On June 1, 2018, Spruill turned himself in to police. He has been charged with two counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact Third Degree and two counts of Harassment.

He was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $4000.00 unsecured. Spruill is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas in August for an arraignment.
