The Newark Police Department has arrested 37-year-old Jeffrey Yatkowski of Bear for six counts of indecent exposure and one count of criminal impersonation, according to Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda.
Bryda said on June 11th, the Newark Police began investigating several reports of a male subject masturbating in a group of trees along the James F. Hall Trail near Academy Street. During the first incident on June 11th, a female jogger observed a male masturbating while partially clothed as she ran by a group of trees, according to Byrda.
The next incident occurred on June 22nd, where two female joggers were running along the James F. Hall Trail, near Academy Street, when they observed a male masturbating while watching them run by, said Bryda. The third incident occurred on June 25th on the James F. Hall Trail, again near Academy Street. During this incident, three females were walking together on the trail when they observed a male seated in a chair behind some trees, masturbating as they walked by, according to Byrda.
After the June 25th incident, officers made contact with several male subjects in the area while conducting the investigation. All were released after brief contact. Byrda said upon further investigation, investigating officers learned that the one of the male subjects gave a false name. After further investigation, officers were able to identify Jeffrey Yatkowski as the subject who provided the false name and were able to link him to the described incidents.
On June 27th arrest warrants were obtained and Yatkowski was taken into custody. Yatkowski was charged with six counts of Indecent Exposure 2nd Degree and Criminal Impersonation. He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on $3,500 unsecured bond.
