Wilmington Police Make Arrest In Church Street Shooting

After an extensive investigation, Wilmington Police made an arrest in the shooting incident that occurred on May 29th 2018 at 35th and Church Streets.

Police have arrested 25-year-old Jy-Aire Dennis of Wilmington was arrested on June 19th 2018 and charged with the following offenses:

Assault 1st Degree
Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
Possession of a firearm by person prohibited
Carry a concealed deadly weapon
Terroristic Threatening
He is currently being held at Howard R Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $156,000 cash bail.


Wilmington Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 7:20 pm at 35th and Church Street.

The 19-year-old male victim sustained a gun shot wound to his leg. He was treated on scene by New Castle County paramedics before  he was air lifted by medivac to the Christiana Hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

Breaking Report

Wilmington – Crews from the Wilmington Fire Department, along with Wilmington Police, New Castle County Paramedics and Trooper 4 have responded to North Church Street for reports of a shooting.

Trooper 4 has landed a few blocks away, near Wilmington Fire Department Station # 3. Medics are packaging the patient for transport.

Trooper 4 will transport the patient shortly.
