Happening Now: One Killed, One Trapped In Georgetown Accident

Georgetown – At approximately 2:50 this afternoon rescue crews with the Georgetown Fire Company, along with Troopers from the Delaware State Police responded to 19000 block of West Piney Grove Road in Georgetown for reports of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

Upon arrival, Troopers reported that two people were seriously injured, one of whom was trapped.

As rescue crews arrived on scene they reported two vehicles were in the roadway and began working to extricate the trapped patient. At 3:09 the patient was removed from the vehicle transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

At 2:27 Delaware State Police reported that they were currently on scene of a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 2:47 p.m., on W. Piney Grove Road, west of E. Trap Pond Road in Georgetown.

The patient that was extricated is believed to have survived the crash.

“Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.”

The investigation is in the early stages with further information being released as it becomes available.
