Police Arrest Man Wanted For Middletown Valero Shooting

On July 9, 2018, at approximately 6 pm, Ramaj Thompson responded to the Middletown Police Department to voluntarily turn himself in, according to police.

Thompson was taken into custody without incident and processed on the following charges: Attempted Murder 1st degree (1 count), Reckless Endangering 1st degree (4 counts), Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (9 counts), Aggravating Menacing (4 counts), Conspiracy 1st degree.
Thompson was arraigned then transported to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of posting $995,000.00 cash bail along with a No Contact Order with the Victims.

On Sunday, July 1, 2018, at approximately 7:30 pm, officers responded to the area of the Valero Gas Station located at 38 E. Main Street in Middletown in reference to a shots fired complaint. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim’s vehicle with apparent damage from multiple gunshots, according to Middletown Police Chief Michael Iglio.

Iglio said the vehicle was occupied by four victims, who were not injured from the gunfire, ranging in age from 6 years – 23 years old.

Officials said the victims had just exited the Valero gas station and were traveling on East Main Street when they observed Ramaj Thompson, an 18-year-old male from New Castle,  fire a handgun at their vehicle multiple times. The gunfire struck the vehicle causing the rear windshield to shatter, according to Iglio.

It was also reported that Thompson arrived in a dark green Mazda Protégé occupied by another male and two females.

Ramaj Thompson is currently wanted for Attempted Murder 1st degree (1 count), Reckless Endangering 1st degree (4 counts), Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (9 counts), Aggravating Menacing (4 counts), and Conspiracy 1st degree.
