Newark – Just after 3:00 Thursday afternoon, August 2, 2018, Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder was dispatched to I-95 Southbound at the Toll Plaza for a large uncontained spill.

Upon arrival, crews found a tractor trailer with a ruptured saddle tank leaking approximately 60 gallons of diesel fuel. Additional resources were requested from Belvedere Fire Company including HAZMAT and Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT).

Lane restrictions were put into place to allow for safe operations to mitigate the hazard, according to Aetna.

Crews operated for several hours containing the leak and cleaning up the spill.
