Bear – At around 9:20 last evening New Castle County Police, along with Delaware State Troopers and Trooper 4 (Delaware State Police Aviation), were involved in a police pursuit involving shooting suspects according to early reports.

Earlier in the evening reports began coming in that a shooting had occurred in the unit block of Revelle Street in New Castle. As County Police arrived on scene they began to broadcast the suspect’s vehicle description.

Shortly after the reports of the shooting, County Police responded to a medical facility in Newark with Newark Police assisting. At around that same time our readers began reporting to us that Trooper 4 was hovering over that facility in Newark.

While police investigated the scenes in Newark and New Castle, we began receiving reports that indicated that police were actively searching for the suspect’s vehicle.

Moments later our readers once again began telling us that the helicopter was now hovering over the general area of the Revelle Street shooting scene.

As we were preparing to post our breaking news report, County Police spotted what is believed to be the suspect’s vehicle and gave chase. Trooper 4 and Delaware State Troopers joined in the short-lived highspeed pursuit that led authorities along Route 273 to Airport Road. The suspect then turned onto Churchmans Road and headed towards the old Toys R Us store. As the chase passed the store the suspects turned on to Route 1 southbound. It was at this point that reports of tire debris flying off the vehicle began coming in. It’s not clear if police deployed stop sticks during the pursuit but shortly after the reports that the tires were coming apart, the vehicle exited Route 1 and came to a stop in the opposing lanes on Route 40 in the area of Route 7.

Dozens of police officers surrounded the vehicle and performed a felony stop. The suspects were pulled out of the vehicle one by one at gunpoint.

We are working to gather further details. Check back soon.

If you have photos of the stop or the incident you can message them to us via our Facebook page.
