Police: Man Arrested After Causing $65,000 Damage To Commercial A/C Units

The Dover Police Department arrested a 36-year-old Dover man after he caused an estimated $65,000 in damage to commercial air conditioning units in the Bay Court Plaza shopping center, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said officers responded to the area at approximately 3:44 AM for a report of a burglary in progress. Officers located Jerome Davis at the rear of the complex inside of a maroon Firebird with temporary Maryland tags, according to Hoffman.

Davis was wearing a headlamp and black gloves when he was contacted by officers and was in possession of freshly cut parts from commercial air conditioning units, said Hoffman.

Further investigation revealed that Davis accessed the roof of the complex and cut several parts off of the units, likely to be sold or taken to a scrap/recycling facility, according to Hoffman. The value of the items stolen was estimated to be $13,000 with another $65,000 in damages to the rooftop air conditioning units.

Davis was committed to JTVCC in default of $2,850 bond on the following charges:
-Theft $1500.00 or Greater
-Possession of Burglary Tools
-Criminal Mischief Over $1500.00
-Trespass 2nd Degree
