Wilmington – Last Thursday, August 9, 2018 officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Brookside Avenue, in the community of Brack Ex for the report of a stabbing, according to police.
Officials said upon arrival, the officers learned that the 29–year-old victim had already been transported to a local hospital.
After speaking with witnesses at the scene, officers were able to establish that the victim, girlfriend and their 3-year-old child were in the area of Brookside Avenue waiting for friends. While there an unknown white male approached the vehicle from the rear and attempted to speak to them.
While at the window, the suspect reached in and attempted to remove a purse from the motor vehicle, according to police. A brief struggle ensued at which point the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times in the chest with a steak knife authorities said.
Police said Detectives then arrived on the scene and were able to identify the suspect as 30-year-old Charles W. Bradigan.
Last Monday, August 13, 2018, Charles Bradigan was arrested by officers from the New Castle County Division of Police and agents from the US Marshal’s Task Force. He was taken into custody and transported back to New Castle County Police Headquarters.
At New Castle County Police Headquarters he was charged with: felony, Assault First Degree, felony Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and one count misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently being held in lieu of $113,000 cash-only bail.
Officials did not release any information regarding the victim’s injuries.
