28-Year-Old Dies In Motorcycle Crash On Saturday

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that took place late Saturday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 11:23 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, on Cedar Creek Road, in the area of Heritage Road in Lincoln. A 2017 Kawasaki 1000cc motorcycle, operated by a 28-year-old Millsboro man, was traveling southbound on Cedar Creek Road, just south of Heritage Road, when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road. As a result the Kawasaki traveled off the west edge of the road, with its left side striking a mailbox, causing it to overturn on to its left side. The operator was ejected from the motorcycle, coming to rest in a grassy area off the west side of the road.

The operator was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Speed is being considered as a contributing factor in the crash, impairment is undetermined at this time, said Austin. Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Cpl. K. Argo of the Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit by calling 302-703-3264.
