Fire Destroys 200-Year-Old Home In Cecil County

Elkton – Just after 12:00 this afternoon, firefighters from the Singerly Fire Company responded to Brewster Bridge Road for reports of a house fire.

In addition to the Elkton Fire Fighters, several Cecil County, Md. and New Castle County, DE fire companies responded to the blaze to assist.

Shortly after mutual aid was requested from the Christiana Fire Company and Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder the Commander on scene ordered all firefighters out of the home and began an exterior fight.

The home, which sits just behind Milburn Orchards in Elkton, is over 200-years-old, according to the neighbor. It appears to be a total loss.

No injuries have been reported.

Crews remain on scene.
