Police: Man Beaten In Downtown Newark Parking Lot, Know These Guys?

The Newark Police are investigating an assault which occurred on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at approximately 12:52 a.m., according to Sgt. Gerald Bryda.

Byrda said officers on patrol in the area of 45 East Main Street observed a subject blocking traffic with a laceration over his eye. The subject, a 31-year-old male, was highly intoxicated and related that he had just been attacked by several unknown subjects. The male was later transported to Christiana Hospital for treatment.

With the use of surveillance cameras, officers observed the 31-year-old male walking on East Main Street. He was then observed walking into Newark Parking Division Lot #2, where he was being followed by a group of unknown males. The first suspect walks up and strikes the victim in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground before a second suspect then is seen punching and kicking the victim, according to Byrda. During the assault, there are several other males and females with the two suspects.

Suspect 1 is described as a black male wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans.

Suspect 2 is described as a black male wearing a black shirt and dark pants.

The Newark Police are seeking the public assistance in identifying the suspects. Byrda said they were both suspects were captured on nearby surveillance video.
