Police: Smyrna Man Charged With 12 Counts Of Rape

Smyrna Police Department (SPD) Investigators have charged a Dover man with multiple illegal sexual acts involving a 17-year-old victim, according to authorities.

Officials said that on Thursday, September 6th, SPD patrol officers responded to a check on the welfare of an occupied vehicle parked off of the roadway on Rabbit Chase Lane. Upon arrival, contact was made with Robert Halama, 62, of Dover, and a 17-year-old minor, according to police.

Officials have alleged that their investigation revealed that sexual activity had been occurring inside of the vehicle. Detectives have also alleged that Halama and the victim had engaged in illegal sexual acts multiple times over several months, according to a statement released by the Smyrna Police.

Halama has been charged with 12 counts of Rape 4th degree. He was subsequently arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #7 where he was committed to the Department of Corrections in lieu of $60,000 secured bond.
