County Bomb Squad Investigation Shuts Down Street In Newark – Video

At around 1:00 this afternoon, officers with the New Castle County EOD (Bomb Squad) Team responded to a home in the 500 block of Tamara Circle, in Newark’s Harmony Hills neighborhood, for an investigation of a suspicious package.

Arriving officers blocked off Tamara Circle between Engle Place and Catalina Drive while they worked to clear the package. At least two homes were evacuated, officers telling them there was a bomb threat, according to neighbors.

An officer in a protective suite carried what appeared to be x-ray plates into the back of the home before returning to the EOD truck. Moments later two team members retrieved a black suitcase or briefcase from the same area.

An awaiting ambulance from the Mill Creek Fire Company was released from the scene shortly after officers retrieved and opened the case.

Officials have not released any further details regarding the incident at this time. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
