Detectives Work Around The Clock, Two Arrested In Smyrna Double Shooting

Update: The charges against Devante Blocker have been dropped in this case.


Two local men have been arrested and charged in connection with the Monday night shooting that left two others hospitalized, according to authorities.

Officials said Smyrna Police Detectives worked around the clock after they were alerted to a shooting in the 400 block of Baldwin Drive at approximately 10:00.

Police have arrested Jeffrey T. Thomas, 20, and Devante Blocker, 20, both of Smyrna, and have charged the pair with the following offenses 2 counts of Assault 1st., Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, 3 counts of Reckless Endangering First Degree, Conspiracy First Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Criminal Mischief over $1000, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Thomas was presented on these charges before Justice of the Peace Court #7 and was subsequently committed to the Department of Corrections (DOC) in lieu of $80,201 secured bond. Blocker was also presented and arraigned in JP #7 where he was committed to the DOC in lieu of $27,201 secured bond.

Both victims, in this case, remain in stable condition with gunshot wounds to their lower extremities.

Investigators do not believe that any suspects are outstanding.
