At approximately 8:54 Friday morning, October 2, 2018, Detectives from the Milford Police Department were dispatched to a sexual assault investigation that had just occurred in a residence in the 800 block of SE Fourth Street, according to Milford Police spokesman Detective Timothy Maloney.
Maloney said Detectives made contact with the victim who advised that the suspect, later positively identified as Kamau Graves, 31 of Dover, had sexually assaulted them while in possession of a knife and then fled from the residence.
Later that same day, Graves was located inside a residence in the 200 block of Horton Street in Dover and taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal’s First State Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of the Dover Police.
He was charged with 3 counts of Rape 1st Degree, one count of Possession Of A Deadly Weapon During the Commission Of A Felony, one count of Aggravated Menacing, and one count of Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree.
Graves had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Corrections in default of $207,000 cash bail only with a nno-contactorder with the victim. Graves was ordered to appear in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.
