An Ellendale man faces the possibility of life in prison after pleading guilty to killing one of his friends in 2017.
In July of last year, 36-year-old Don Martinez was in the parking lot of the Silver Lake Estates housing complex in Milford with his friend Kevin M. King, 36 of Ellendale, when the two began to argue. During the argument, Martinez pulled a handgun and fired multiple shots at King, killing him.
After the killing, Martinez reportedly placed King’s body in a vehicle and remove him from the scene, according to Milford Police Spokesman Robert Masten. The vehicle was later located by Dover Police and the Delaware State Police near Route 10, with King being found deceased inside. Martinez was found by Delaware State Police near the abandoned vehicle.
Martinez recently pled guilty to Murder Second Degree, burglary and aggravated menacing in connection with the killing of King. When sentenced by a Superior Court judge in February Martinez faces 26 years to life in prison.
A third man was also wounded by gunfire during the incident. He was treated at Bayhealth in Milford and released the night of the shooting.
