The Middletown Police Department is providing this information in order to notify the community of recent thefts from motor vehicles in public places, and attempt to prevent any further victims. Vehicles are being targeted in the areas of parks and gyms as they are areas in which individuals often leave their purses, identity documents, credit cards, and checkbooks unattended in their vehicles.
Vehicles containing electronics in plain view, specifically radar detectors, are also being targeted. Please avoid leaving these items unattended, and avoid leaving them in plain view even when the vehicle is secured. A secured vehicle will not prevent these items from being stolen, as vehicle windows have frequently been broken in order to obtain those documents.
The Police Department requests your assistance in passing this information along, as well as in reporting any suspicious activity observed in these public places in order to assure the community’s safety and security during this holiday season.
If there are any questions or concerns, please contact the Middletown Police Department at 302-376-9950.
