New Castle – The Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a New Castle area gas station that took place Sunday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.
Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 10:33 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2018, at the Sunoco, located at 285 Christiana Rd., New Castle. A male suspect with his face concealed and brandishing a handgun approached an employee at the sales counter and demanded cash and cigarettes, according to Austin. The employee complied with the demand by turning over an undisclosed amount of cash and multiple cartons of cigarettes to the suspect who then exited the business. Upon exiting the business, the armed suspect joined up with a second suspect who had remained outside the front door acting as a lookout during the robbery, added Austin. The two were last seen on foot towards Christiana Rd.
The suspects were described as follows:
Suspect #1: White male, 5’9”, 160 lbs., wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark cloth covering his face and in possession of a black handgun.
Suspect #2: Average build, all dark clothing to include a hooded sweatshirt.
