Two Displaced After Early Morning House Fire In Middletown

Just after 5:30 this morning, Monday, January 28, 2019, firefighters from Middletown, along with mutual aid from several New Castle County, Kent County, and Cecil County, Maryland fire companies responded to the unit block of Fairview Avenue for a house fire.

While en route to the home that sits just south of the C & D Canal along the Maryland/Delaware state line, crews learned that the homeowner was reporting smoke from the garage.

Upon their arrival, crews reported that the fire had extended into the first and second floors of the home.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control after working for several minutes, however, the home was deemed uninhabitable, according to reports from the scene. The Red Cross was requested to assist two adults that were displaced by the fire.

Fire Marshals are currently investigating.
